Carlo of Hollywood Pair of Water Colors
This pair of large watercolors continues Carlo of Hollywood's A Thousand & One Nights theme. Both male and female subjects are highly stylized and in quarter profile. Both are chained at the wrist but why is a mystery. Backgrounds are minimal with only token artistic references-- the onion dome, flaming brazier and turban. As usual, initial pencil drawing is visible under watercolor paint. This pair of unusual frames was constructed to allow a lighting fixture to be placed in recessed base. Both frames and water color paintings show age-appropriate wear. Each painting has Carlo signature in lower corners.
