The last two years have seen a dramatic increase in the popularity and value of Mid Century Danish Furniture. Many Danish designers are eagerly sought by Americans from Richmond, Virginia to Portland Oregon to incorporate into their homes. Although designed mostly from the late 1940s through the 1960s, Danish furniture looks and feels very modern. Danish furniture also is remarkably sturdy and looks fabulous.
Finn Juhl's #45 & #48 Chairs are both beautiful and comfortable. Arne Jacobsen's Swan Chairs are still in production and bring sighs of envy wherever they are placed. Hans Wegner's Round Chairs and Cow Chairs are coveted from as far away as Tokyo! And to own a Pederson & Hansen Vanity Mirror is sublime. Danish credenzas from Hansen & Guldborg, Arne Vodder, Falster are sold quickly for storage and flat screen TVs. Peter Lovig Nielsen's Desk is cherished for the home or executive office. Peter Hvidt Shelving Units are exquisite for their beautiful joinery and craftsmanship. Kurt Ostervig coffee tables are so rare they can't even be found in Denmark now but some are available for resale because lucky Americans purchased them in Denmark in the 1960s. Fabricius & Kasterholm designed their five-tiered spun steel light pendant in 1964 and it is eagerly sought by connoisseurs throughout the United States. Danish furniture will continue to find favor as living spaces become smaller and more urban so go hunt and gather some.
