Midcentury House # 3
332 Oak Lane
Very reminiscent of Falling Water and the Kaufmann Palm Springs House, this 1960s Richmond home offers both a private and public face. Its elevation complements the contours of both the landscaping and the gently curved driveway. Pivotal clerestory windows allow for light and privacy. Glass, stone and stucco are judiciously employed to give the house elongated horizontal planes. Both the recessed entryway and generous overhanging eaves are a nod to Frank Lloyd Wright's notion of a home sitting comfortably within a natural and suitable landscape.
