Art Deco Nichols Style Rug

China, 1920s

Although rug has no markings, it is very much a Walter Nichols style rug. Colors are aubergine, ox blood and blues favored in Art Deco design. Four corners of rug have delicate flower blossoms alternate with Chinese iconic pieces such as bronze urn, tea pot, enamel vessels and bird in flight. Carpet colors are bright and fresh. Knots are extremely tight. Carpet shows wear in only one small segment by tea pot. Very good vintage condition.
